Los cables CAT6 reducen la diafonía y el ruido del sistema. El aislamiento superior alrededor de los cables de cobre de 23 AWG se atribuye al mayor rendimiento. Pueden transmitir datos a 1000 Mbps (~ 1 Gigabit por segundo) con una frecuencia de 250 MHz y son adecuados para 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX Fast Ethernet y 1000BASE-T / 1000BASE-TX (Gigabit Ethernet).
